At Broomfield we are proud of the programme we provide to support both children and their families on the journey from Primary to Secondary. We recognise that this time can be one of many emotions; excitement, trepidation and enthusiasm. We ensure that from Secondary Offer Day onwards you have access to all the information you need about Broomfield School.

From Primary School to Broomfield School....
Over the next 6 months you will have plenty of opportunity to experience life at Broomfield and get to know your new school, new teachers and make new friends.
We start with the Welcome Evening on Monday 6th March 2023. This is an online meeting where parents and pupils can find out more information about Broomfield and ask any initial questions.
The next event is the Early Taster Day on Wednesday 8th March. The induction will involve a variety of exciting activities that will enable your child to start to familiarise themselves with Broomfield and prepare them for the transition to secondary school. Your son or daughter will be using our Science laboratories, experiencing a Media lesson, taking part in a Geography lesson and doing some exciting learning around the new school name change.
Following that, your child is invited to a series of Year 6 Masterclasses in June on various dates at 4-5pm in the summer term. More information will be posted on here shortly.
The Year 7 Broomfield Quiz takes place on Thursday 15th June at 6pm online on zoom. Children are invited to come and join in a fun quiz with Mrs Tansley, answering questions on general knowledge, sport, music and of course - secondary school!
On Tuesday 20th June, we have our Induction Evening which we encourage you to attend with your child.
We then offer our main Transition Day on Thursday 6th July. The day is for the entire Year 7 cohort, who spend the day with us meeting teachers, making new friends and leaving all the information they need to start September in Year 7.
Whilst all this is going on, Mrs Tansley (Associate Assistant Head) and Mr Dunnage (SENCO) are visiting our primary feeder schools, meeting the Year 6 teachers and finding out everything we need to know to help your child settle into Broomfield.
In September we look to settle the children into Year 7 as quickly and smoothly as possible. They arrive on the first day and we find that they quickly settle into the new routine of Broomfield life.
We encourage all of our Year 7 pupils to participate in extra-curricular activities, offering them all free music tuition for the academic year and encouraging them all to attend our residential trips.
