Broomfield Year 8 Boys narrowly lost out to a very competitive Southgate side. Despite the intensity and competitiveness sustained throughout the whole game the game was played in a wonderful spirit. This was epitomised when a Southgate player went down after an accidental trip, all of Broomfield's surrounding players helped them up and asked if they were ok.
The game itself started with Southgate dominance in the opening quarter as they raced into an early 2-6 lead, however the character shown by Broomfield was amazing and their never give up attitude meant it was a close encounter, 8-10, at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Unfortunately, an area identified by the captain Besart which the team all agree on, fitness, was the Achilles heel as Southgate won the last quarter to win overall 10-14. The progress made by pupils since start of year has been outstanding in particular the individual training put in by Shaydon on the school outdoor basketball courts showed as his shootign was phenomenal and earned him the MVP for the game.
